First thoughts
Bobby & I were in Colorado last week (my first time)... I GET IT. I totally get the hype of Colorado now. This state is absolutely stunning and the people are just so friendly. Granted, we stayed at the Four Seasons in both Denver and Vail... we were very spoiled on this trip.
I was lucky enough to tag along with Bobby on his business trip to Vail and considering I'm a Graphic Designer, I can do my job from anywhere so I seized the opportunity and went. Even though I worked during the day it was one of my favorite trips with Bobby.
Stranded in Denver
We got stuck in Denver for the first few days due to the storm so we couldn't make the drive to Vail. But it ended up being a very good thing. We got the chance to explore Denver as well as meet up with Bobby's sister who lives there. It all worked out! When we were first checking in at the Four Seasons I noticed a group of really tall men in the corner of the lobby and then I noticed their shirts said "Toronto"... I looked over at Bobby and I'm like "Who are they?!" Bobby explained to me that they play for the Toronto Raptors (they had a game that night). Even though, i know nothing about the NBA, I thought how random... and yet how awesome is this - haha.
Bobby's winter coat crisis
Bobby, of course, had to buy a jacket while in Denver because I don't know why anyone would only pack a peacoat for Vail - haha. I, on the other hand, played it smart and packed my Helly Hansen. We went to multiple stores around Denver and he found coats that he "liked" but if you're going to drop a decent amount of $ on a coat I said you have to "love" it and he obviously agreed. In the end Bobby was finally warm once he bought his winter coat at this local shop right next to all the bars on 14th street and now he is obsessed with it, great purchase.
Two hour drive felt like 15 minutes
The drive from Denver to Vail, was my favorite part of the trip. It's a little less than a two hour drive but I was so immersed in the magnificent scenery it felt like 15 mins. Vail is like a winter wonderland you only see in movies. The Four Seasons had a heated outdoor pool! We dared each other to go in and we did in 8 degree weather! Minus your wet hair freezing, it was a blast!
The places to eat in Vail + Denver
If you ever find yourself in Vail, the best place to eat is Sweet Basil. You MUST go! Their food is so creative and unique. Some of the best food I've ever had in the States! For Denver, Bobby and I adored Euclid Hall; we loved this place so much we went there twice. Really great atmosphere and people. We were there on an Avalanche game night, so it was packed full of fans. The service was so great, even at their busiest.
Visually stunning and beautifully liberating!
